I worked in the Mill periodically,a great place to work ,with many characters, lots of nice girls, and friendly people. I worked several periods in the Mill, so did my mother.

I spent a year in the Labelling with Jackie Winning as my boss and three nice ladies from Barrhead. We had a lot of fun making labels, which we printed and I delivered to the flats, and dispatch for Stardisks Spools and Boxes.

I also spent time as a Barrow boy ,taking the thread when complete from the 4th and second floors down to packaging, I had a great time and met most people. For a young guy it was a little embarrasing to come to flats with lots of girls and women ,they used to whisle and shout "hows it going doll", I used to feel a little embarrassed in those days. Think i liked many of them in secret.

Another favorite was the Tea lady I would still buy a roll and chips ,or sausage if i could not, to mention her great tea.

Wish i could go back again for a visit...
