Mill Memories / Comment: My jobs at Neilston Mill

I started work in the mill straight from school when I was fifteen. I was put in a job called the ticketing. this job was done by hand, You had to lick each label and stick one on each bobbin. I did not like this job at all so I left the mill after a year.

Much later when I was in my forties I returned to the mill. My sister spoke to Joe Barr, at that time they liked to employ people from the same family. I worked in the Bulking department for a few years then I went to the Newton Mearns Mill.

I really enjoyed the mill second time around and made a lot of good friends. I took early retirement after I had been in the mill for sixteen years,
