Mill Memories / Comment: Wonderful Times at Mill

I started work at 15 years old and worked there until I was 22 years old. I worked both flat and General Office. Everything I remember was good, as we were all young and single. Everyone worked well together and as Charlie Grattan was boss we done as we were told.

I remember the summer, going to Cowdenhall at lunchtime, sitting in the sun admiring the beauty of Cowdenhall. We had to run fast to get back in time for the one o'clock horn.

I went back to work in the Mill for 16 years . Again flat and General Office, this time wages were excellent, a different situation now. I lived in Neilston and mother of 4 children. Travel was no bother, now I listened to the younger girls and enjoyed there company. Still worked hard. Took my redundancy at 54 years of age. Look back with fond memories.
